Have you ever wondered why Taisto buses are yellow?
It wasn’t a random colour choice or simply an attempt to stand out from other bus companies. There’s a story behind the yellow colour that goes all the way back to Taisto Bussid’s early days. It all started with a simple idea: to be easily recognisable.
When Taisto started over 32 years ago, we wanted our buses to be instantly recognisable, even from a distance, and to leave a lasting impression on people.
One of our Finnish partners gave us a simple but memorable piece of advice back then:
“A bus should be bright and beautiful.”
But for Tajo, the owner of Taisto, it meant something more.
For him, yellow symbolised joy, energy and positivity. It was a colour that made people feel good and held a special meaning for him.
And so, the decision was made to paint Taisto buses yellow. The buses decorated with animal illustrations made Taisto truly unique.
But the yellow colour alone wasn’t enough.
We wanted our buses to bring people joy even before their journey began. Andres Vilde, an artist from Võru, hand-painted elephants, giraffes and other colourful designs onto our first buses.
And that’s how our buses became so distinctive that they were impossible to mistake for anyone else’s.
Some remembered the elephants, others the giraffes, and some simply remembered the cheerful colours and the feeling that Taisto buses were always a little different from the rest.
A yellow bus that catches your eye from a distance.

Kollane värv muutis bussid hästi märgatavaks, kuid veelgi olulisem oli emotsioon, mida need tekitasid. Meie jaoks ei ole buss kunagi olnud lihtsalt transpordivahend.
It’s where school trips, company outings, holidays and journeys to sporting events begin. That’s why we’ve always believed that the journey itself should be safe, comfortable and memorable.
Our yellow buses and colourful animal illustrations helped bring that feeling to life.
And you know what?
And today, Taisto buses are still yellow.
Over the years, bus models, technology, comfort and passenger expectations have all changed. Our buses have become more modern and now take passengers on journeys across Estonia and throughout Europe.
But one thing has remained the same: our signature yellow colour.
It reminds us of where our story began and continues to symbolise joy, energy and wonderful travel experiences. Because some things never need to change.
